Research

My research focuses on spin dynamics in diamond nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers. NV centers are a defect in the lattice of diamond composed of a substitutional nitrogen impurity located next to a vacancy (missing carbon). Even at room temperature, NV center spins preserve coherent spin-states for up to 350 microseconds, making them exciting candidates for quantum information systems based on spin. Furthermore, using standard confocal microscopy and spin-resonance techniques we are able to study the dynamics of a single NV spin.
